Wonderful result, and by the time it was iced ...
Fabulous product. So long as you grease it properly, and I laid small strips of parchment across the more delicate parts to help my lift it out. Wonderful result, and by the time it was iced with roses it was big enough to feed a rugby team and some.

Not great
Loved the idea of this cake tin but in practical use it isn’t great. After reading other reviews I used a good amount of cake release but it was a complete failure trying to get it out of the tin. I managed to salvage most of it and piece it together again like a jigsaw puzzle, and as they say icing can cover a lot of disasters. For a first cake made from scatch by an 11 year old for his little sister, I’d say it was a great job but would’ve been a lot better and easier if it hadn’t fallen apart. It should be noted that this was a tried and tested gluten free sponge so I’m keen to give it a go with a regular recipe to see if it makes any difference. I’ll report back!

Definitely sticks - must cut out baking paper
managed to bake 2 broken skulls - had no patience to cut out baking paper - but better to prep the baking paper before you bake it, as you will be massively frustrated when your cake does not come out.

The only part that came out looking like it should was a big piece was the top ...
This product is not fit for its purpose, nor as described. The cake tin I was sent didn't have flutes, it had smooth edging nor was it non stick. My daughter's birthday cake was ruined because the cake did not release as a whole cake, even though I used cake release spray and covered the 'sticky outy bits' with extra butter (just to be safe). The only part that came out looking like it should was a big piece was the top of the skull but the cake around the eyes, nose and mouth stayed in the tin. There was not enough spacing between the edges to hold the weight of the cake in these parts so they just fell apart. I could not even patch the pieces together because of the small sections. As an experienced baker I have never been in a situation where I have thrown a cake away because of problems, however, nothing was salvageable. This is the first year in my daughter's 15 years that I have not made her a birthday cake and I feel terrible about it. I had so much faith in the item I waited until its delivery to start baking, so I didn't have enough time to make a replacement. Disappointment doesn't describe how I feel about this product, the disappointment in my daughter's eyes at her birthday tea party was heartbreaking. As a doctor in waiting she specifically asked for a skull cake and for the first time I was unable to bake her a cake that she wanted :(
