Nice Option for Dining, Either as a Sandwich or a Meal Serving, as a Vegan.
Being a Vegan, there are Limited Options for Meals, when it comes to Protein or Meat Substitutes. This Product Provides a viable Meat Alternative Option, which is unlike most all other Meat Meal Substitution Options. This Product has No Preservatives, which is also Great, because if You are a Vegan, the Last Thing You would want is to be weighed down by Foods laden with Preservatives. The Taste varies depending on 'How the Luncheon Meat is Prepared', however the Taste is Distinctive and Delectable.Having stopped Consuming Meat Products after my Formative Years, it has not always been Easy to find a Meal Option, that replaces the simplicity and readability of all the available Meat Products Sold to Consumers. Be these Fast Food Options or be these Grocery Store Dining Staples. Again, I have never Purchased or Shopped for Meat at a Store, so I cannot Honestly provide or make Mention of that Change in Shopping, though having Eaten Fast Food as Youth and the Availability at every Turn...... Being a Vegan is rather Difficult. Moreso, Finding Meals that One wants to Eat, but more so are Easy as Fast Food, it also a challenge. So this Product, does Provide some Meal Possibilities, which are not found elsewhere. A Spam Sandwich seems to be Historically a Staple for those Construction Worker Type, Who have a couple Sandwichs in the Lunch Box for Break Time or even an Easy Lunch. This could be Prepared many ways.. Personally, Preparing this with some Pineapple and being Cooked in a Pressure Cooker, seems to be an Alternative Preparation that is quite Tasteful. Slicing this up, mixed with some Pineapple in a Vegetable Colander or even Cut up in with Pineapple Chunks and Juice is very Good. Grease is an Issue with many Meals, even Vegan Products that are made to be Eaten like Meat. So, steaming this in a Pressure Cooker Cooks away a lot of the Oils in this Product, while the Pineapple helps breakdown those Oils within the Luncheon Meat also. This is due to the Acidity of the Pineapple. Which this also removes some of the Aftertaste that this Product has if not Cooked. For example if Eaten from the Can, with Crackers, as Spam would be Eaten, this has an Aftertaste, kind of. I suspect to mimic the Taste that Traditional Spam has, albeit this is kind of like a Roast Beef Type Spam, rather than the Tallow and Pork or Hotdog kind of Product that Traditional Spam was. This Product is also Nice Cooked as a Burger would be, in an Air Fryer for example. Then served as a Meat Entree alone, with perhaps some Sauce of some Kind (Heinz 57, A1, Worcestershire Sauce, Soy, etc) or even as a Cooked Sandwich, as a Fried Bologna or Fried Spam would be. Adding One's choice of Condiments. The Versatility of this Product, is Similar to that of Spam.. For a Fast Meal, One could get some Crackers and Eat this with Crackers, straight from the Can. Actually, this Product is very Similar to Pastrami Meat which is often Eaten with Crackers, especially at Christmas Time. Earlier it was said "Roast Beef", though thinking about the Taste, this seems to have been Made to mimic Pastrami in Taste and even Texture. Not sure if Spam had a Pastrami Version or Not? So any Meal You would use Pastrami for, this would be a viable Alternative.Who knows, with more Meats being Found to Contain PFAS and other Contaminants, Meat Eaters might Consume more Meat Alternative Products, for Health Reason, rather than Ethical Ones? Whatever Your Reason for Choosing a Meat Alternative, this Product is a Safe, Healthy, and Delicious Option to Add to Your Menu Options. Plus, this is Stored in a Can, which is Safe to Store until You need it. So this can be Taken Anywhere, Vacation, Picknicks, Hunting, Hiking, or even things such as Prepping, this is a very Nice Option to have..Thanks be to the Makers of Luncheon Products.

Tasty, familiar, lower calories and sodium
I grew up in the South of an Appalachian mom and in a very modest home. Spam, and to a lesser degree its competitor Treet, were often on the table. As an adult, I stopped eating meat and was eventually a strict vegan for 11 years, modifying to pescatarian just in the last few. But there has always been this part of my comfort food memory associated with the deliciously greasy, salty, slightly sweet canned luncheon meat that has never been satisfied by anything else. Until now.It is gratifyingly salty but not so much as Spam, having only 34% of the sodium per serving. It has enough fat to stand on its own in the frying pan, but 6 grams less. And 50 fewer calories to boot, although to be honest I don’t think many buying this would be primarily interested in how it’s a healthier alternative. What matters to most consumers including me, is the flavor, texture and versatility. So far, I have used it just fried for sandwiches, cooked “Hawaiian style” with pineapple and teriyaki, diced into chef salad, in potato soup, as a side to eggs, and tossed into noodles. Basically I’ve recreated all those struggle meals that seemed so great to me as a kid. And it stands up to everything. It fills the intended niche almost perfectly.Nothing about it would make it deserving of a full star off but it’s always fair when comparing products to give downsides if applicable. It’s slightly more expensive than Spam. When frying, it doesn’t get as crispy, although it does quite well. And the reduced sodium could be a letdown for some, although for me it’s a plus for health reasons. Truly it’s one of the best meat substitutes I’ve ever used and I’ve tried a lot over the last 15 years. My photo is a whole loaf, baked for 30 minutes at 400°F in a frying pan.

Coming from a meat-eater
Texturally, this product is almost spot-on. It has the firm, homogenous, and meaty consistency that a normal block of spam would have. If anything, it might be a little too dense.Taste-wise, it's not quite there. It's maybe 60-70% of the way there, but it simply isn't meat. It doesn't have the saltiness and cured flavors that spam has, but it has a nice sweetness and smokiness. If your goal is to eat it as part of a recipe (e.g. musubi, carbonara, etc.), then this will work perfectly fine. Crisp it up, sauce it up, whatever. For $7, it's a nice treat for those that don't eat meat.

Protein content
I actually like the flavor! It’s like Spam. But the protein content is misleading. The package says 5grams PER SERVING. 6 servings equals 30g per package. The one pictured says 30g per serving.
