No don’t think so I had to take large toolbox off a shelf as it was bowed

it would be unstable and rocky. I think you would need a bolt and nut system tather than slat-in.

Yes. The sides are flat except on the inside where the shelving connects to the frame

Q: I bought one and it is very good design and useful. But, the hardboards are quite smell, how can I remove those smell?

I think once the fibreboard is impregnated with a mould or any other kind of heavy smell then it is very difficult to remove it. You could try a spray lacquer and apply a number of coats (or paint it on), but it might be a better idea to replace the boards if you can. You can pick up thin MDF from B&Q- I had to do this when I broke one of my shelves. Best of luck!
