Linear Algebra Done Right (Undergraduate Texts in Mathematics)

Llegó en muy buenas condiciones, tal como esperaba. Pero sí veo que Amazon debe mejorar las condiciones del empaque, ya que la caja en la que vienen los libros es más grande que éstos, y podrían maltratarse, ya que no tienen ninguna otra protección. Afortunadamente mis libros han llegado sin problemas. Pero respecto al libro, excelente.

ChatGPTThis book will give you a really solid foundation of:1. Vector and vector spaces2. Linear Maps and matrices3. Eigenvalues and EigenVectorsAnd linear algebra in general. I wish I’d read this book in my elementary - I’d have more interest in math if I did.Remember to really ask questions with your choice of AI - mine is ChatGPT - combining this book with a dialog and doing problems can really clarify a lot of things. A true masterpiece by Axler.

best book for linear algebra

I am a graduate student who studies an area steeped in linear algebra. I have found this book invaluable, particularly the author's hard work on making proofs elegant and readable. I had bought a copy of the third edition previously, but I bought the fourth edition because I greatly appreciate the Axlerization of the tensor product (which I live and breathe) in the last chapter.

Came new and sealed. No complaints!

This is a beautiful book that is written from the standpoint of operator theory--the natural generalization of linear algebra!I congratulate the author. (We have met before. You and I are both "descendants" of Paul Halmos.)But I do have one suggestion!Introduce the subject of duality.And then show the natural isomorphism between a finite-dimensional vector space and its second dual!This result struck me as unforgettably beautiful! When I studied linear algebra in high schoolI may never might have become a mathematician (for better or worse!) if I hadn't seen this beautiful result!

I own many math and other scholarly books. Books on natural deduction, mathematics (junior college to university), a few on physics. None of them, no matter how old they are or cheap they are (some of my books go back to the 90s, 70s, even 60s, and others are $7-10 printings of open educational resources) is as badly printed as this book. There's another review on here of someone saying that they smudged the print by rubbing it lightly with their finger, and they're absolutely right. Touching the ink on the pages is enough to damage the book irreparably. It doesn't just lift the ink off, it actually spreads the ink around on the page! It's absolutely terrible. Springer's printing has consistently had issues for me, but at least their non-color books (which seem to be almost all the other books in the UTM line) don't have this problem. As a comparison, I took my copy of Stewart Calculus Fourth Edition from like the 90s and vigorously, powerfully rubbed one spot of color ink for a solid few minutes, and there was not even a single noticeable blemish on the page (and I really, really tried to damage it). If you can, buy from any publisher other than Springer, and especially do not buy this book!This was a hard review for me to write, as I support open educational resources, and Axler's book is CC BY-NC licensed. My personal gripes with the "NC" clause aside, this is a free book you can download on the internet which I would love to support in a physical copy! The only reason you'd buy a print copy is if you wanted to support the author and have a physical copy long-term to enjoy, which this printing completely misses the mark on.Next time, instead of having the worst ink of all time, just print it black and white like your other texts please. We'll forgive you.
